Raking up leaves? The city of Ripon has a message for you.

Keep leaves behind the curb, and not on the street.

This request and more is being reiterated in a new brochure that’s been circulated just in time for leaf pick-up to begin next week.

“What we’re asking residents to do is follow this guidance. It will make us more efficient and everybody will get service faster,” public works director Mike Ehrenberg said.

While the rules for residential leaf collection haven’t changed, Ehrenberg is putting extra emphasis on educating residents about how the process works.

“We didn’t change anything. I’m just enforcing what’s there,” he said. “There’s a reason this stuff was put in place: and that was to make the department efficient.”

Top of the list is asking residents to keep leaves on the terrace, as opposed to piling them in the street, as many choose to do.
