About 30 emergency vehicles — fire trucks, ambulances, jeeps — paraded down Watson Street to Barlow Park last week Saturday afternoon.

With sirens blaring, the trucks reminded folks that the Ripon Area Fire District is celebrating its sesquicentennial.

From 1869 to 2019, area firefighters have trained, fought fires and risked their own safety to protect area residents, farms and businesses.

Following the parade — including vintage fire trucks from neighboring departments — that stretched from the Immanuel United Methodist Church parking lot, up East Fond du Lac Street, down Watson Street to Barlow Park, celebrants enjoyed food, music and a fireworks show.
