After serving 18 consecutive years on the Ripon Area School Board, David Scott decided it was time for a break.

   It’s a choice he struggled with, the former board president explained.

   “A little bit over a year ago, I started thinking maybe I needed to recharge,” Scott said. “It just seemed like maybe it was time to step back a little bit and think things over.”

   However, after weighing the pros and cons, Scott never came to a resolution.

   The matter was decided for him when the deadline passed to hand in candidacy papers for the School Board race and Scott still hadn’t submitted his paperwork.

   “I never did make up my mind,” Scott said. “I never concretely came to a decision of, ‘Yes, I’m going to do it,’ [or] ‘No, I’m not.’ I just ran out of time.”
