Though it may be a few decades since their last senior prom, Ripon’s seniors will have another chance to enjoy the dance.

With the help of Ripon cadet Girl Scouts Ariana Arnetveit and London Keeler, the Ripon Senior Activity Center will host a Senior Citizen Prom Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ripon American Legion post, 113 E. Fond du Lac St.

The American Legion building is handicap accessible after installing a new lift.

Individuals over the age of 55 will be the stars of the evening as they stroll down the red carpet to the Hollywood-themed prom. The event will feature dancing, food and music requested by local senior citizens along with a photo booth and props.

Though not required, free tickets are available Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ripon Senior Activity Center. Since the tickets are free, attendees may donate money to the free-will offering.

Arnetveit and Keeler chose to create the high school-style dance for senior citizens as part of their Silver Award project.
