The Ripon Tiger boys’ basketball team received the second lowest seed in its half-sectional bracket.

But that is not preventing head coach Steve Brooks from liking its chances to come away with a win.

The Tigers (7-14 overall), who are the No. 12 seed, will travel to Wautoma to face the No. 5-seeded Hornets (14-7 overall) Tuesday in a regional quarterfinal match-up.

It will be the first meeting between the teams since February 2015, a game that Ripon won 80-53.

“It’s definitely a winnable game for us,” Brooks said. “It goes back to ... which team shows up, and are we going to do the little things and are we going to rebound and play defense? That’s truly what it is.”

The Ripon coach has confidence in his team based on the potential it has shown at times this season, as well as how Wautoma has fared against common opponents.

He noted a key to defeating the Hornets will be containing senior Alex Hendrickson, who is averaging 22.6 points per game this year.
