The Green Lake School Board officially agreed, through a memorandum of understanding, to partner with the Boys & Girls Club of the Tri-County Area.

The club approached the school inquiring if it would be interested in working together to enable the club to offer mentoring and after-school services to Green Lake students.

But first, the club and the school are waiting to receive $286,000 in grant money.

Last week Wednesday, Superintendent Mary Allen explained to the Green Lake School Board that the Boys & Girls Club put the grant application together for the Basic Needs Giving Partnership Grant from the Oshkosh Foundation.

If they receive the grant funds, the school and club will collaborate in a gradual process as they try to offer services to students this fall.

Allen explained the process would involve several steps, with the first focusing on developing a mentoring program for the next school year.
