Local Boy Scouts will descend upon Green Lake Sunday, Oct. 21 with many a shopping bag in hand, to collect their spoils.

   The treasures? Food to help feed their community.

   The Scouting for Food Drive is a national annual event that takes place the third week of October. Food goes towards the Green Lake County Food Pantry.

   This is hardly a small feat, but one that reaps rewards.

   Tom Beatty, leader of the Green Lake Boy Scouts, states on average the scouts have collected 1,000 pounds of food each of the past five years.
