As the deadline for declaring candidacy closes, a new candidate has officially tossed his hat into the ring for the Green Lake City Council election in April.

Chris Foos, 466 Hill St., took out papers several weeks ago and has recently turned in all the documents needed to declare his candidacy.

Foos will face off against Darin Green, 584 Ray St., for District 1 alderman, which is a position currently held by Jon Smick. However, Smick has declared he will not seek reelection.

After living in Green Lake for more than three years, Foos decided it was time he wanted to become involved with a community he loves.

“I really, really enjoy the community here; the beautiful scenery along with the people is something that really moves me,” he said. “... I want to add to the greatness that’s going on here, which is the people working together ... pooling their resources as individuals to make a better community, together.”
