The Green Lake City Council gave its stamp of approval for a school resource officer for Green Lake School Monday night.

The council committed up to $12,200 from the budget to pay for the part-time hours the resource officer would work for the Green Lake Police Department during the summer months.

However, the decision came after an extensive discussion about whether enough money is budgeted for the $12,200 expense and if the city needs another part-time officer during the summer months.

According to Mayor Jon McConnell, the $12,200 will come out of the part-time officer funding.

“It will be a small amount of added expense,” he said.
