Green Lake School recognized lyrical lines of poetry that at times rhymed during an assembly April 26 for the Celest King Poetry Contest.

Students from grades 3 to 8 participated in the contest, which were judged by community members. Several kids received first place and second place ribbons during the assembly for poems ranging in topics and form.

Some described the places, smells, sights, sounds and people who make who they are while others described storms, grief for a relative or the struggle they had trying to find a topic to write about in their poem.
