Potential new owners for the former Heidel House property on grounds south of Illinois Avenue have taken the first step toward acquiring the land:

Applying for (and receiving) a liquor license.

During a special Green Lake City Council meeting Tuesday, attorney Steve Sorenson of Green Lake addressed the council as a representative of the development group Spirit of Green Lake, LLC requesting a liquor license for 643 Illinois Ave.

He noted “Spirit of Green Lake” is a name he “came up with because it really is — it’s trying to preserve the spirit of Green Lake.”

Sorenson explained Spirit of Green Lake, LLC is a “corporation of entities in discussions with Green Lake Venture, which of course owns the Heidel House land right now. And we have a letter of intent to purchase the portion of the grounds that are south of ... Illinois Avenue.”

He noted acquiring a liquor license was the “condition preceding anything else happening” in regard to the Heidel House property.

Sorenson pointed out the license Spirit of Green Lake is applying for is not the same license that Green Lake Ventures currently holds.
