When Jim Messina performs next week in Green Lake, he’s going to bring along a drama-free group.
Having played in bands with the likes of Neil Young, Kenny Loggins, Stephen Stills, Randy Meisner and Richie Furay — who will be performing with his own band at the Thrasher next month — Messina has more than 40 years of experience in concerts, collaborations and conflicts.
“I have to say I feel more confident [now] because I’ve become a better player, a better singer ...,” he said. “I work to put people around me that I know are stable and competent ... which makes life much more comfortable for me, knowing I have people that are going to be there on time, sober and are actually happy to be performing. That wasn’t always the case when he was recording with Buffalo Springfield and Poco in the late ’60s. ...
Messina will perform Thursday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Thrasher. Tickets are $50, available at the Thrasher office, Horicon Bank (Green Lake); Webster’s Marketplace, Ripon Drug (Ripon); Twister (Princeton); by calling 294-4279 or online at www.thrasheroperahouse.com.
