The City Council seat representing Green Lake’s District 1 will come down essentially to a coin toss.

Write-in candidate Larry McIntyre received four votes Tuesday, as did incumbent Ald. Jon Smick — who chose not to run for re-election.

Clerk Barb Dugenske confirmed Wednesday morning that a random selection process will take place Friday.

If McIntyre wins, he will serve a three-year term. If Smick wins and refuses the seat, Dugenske said the mayor and council will appoint a new member to fill it.

Either candidate could ask for a recount as well.

In uncontested races, Mayor Jon McConnell (105 votes) and District 3 Ald. Dusty Walker (34 votes) won re-election to their respective positions.
