Ripon’s largest employer is about to expand, again.

   Only this time Alliance Laundry Systems will be growing at a production site about 73 miles northeast of Ripon.

   Company executives told employees Tuesday and today (Wednesday) that Alliance has signed a letter of intent during the past few days to acquire a manufacturing location in Manitowoc, Wis.

   As the acquisition will be in the due-diligence phase for the next 30 to 45 days, the company declined to describe for now the site, which it hopes will be operational later this year, or to characterize what it will produce at the location.

   But it emphasized that the site, which is not an existing company, will enable it to maximize its full potential by utilizing space and labor that’s been harder to come by in the Ripon area.

   “This really is an innovative solution to a complicated problem,” said Randy Radtke, Alliance Laundry’s content and media relations manager. “We can’t squeeze any more out of [the Ripon plant]. We have to do things differently to grow and meet our customers’ needs" ...

   The move of some production to Manitowoc will result in no planned job loss in Ripon, he added, noting that workers at the new site will be unionized, Alliance employees.
