The long-anticipated opening of A&W in Ripon occurred Monday — but the first frosty glasses of root beer were served three days before to members of the Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce.

A&W, 401 Blackburn St., opened for a private party last week to give the employees a “test drive” of the new restaurant, which reopened after closing due to fire a few years ago.

Local business owners lined up to enjoy all their old favorites at the restaurant, which now is connected to the Ultimart convenience store for the BP gas station.
