When community members suggested it would cost the entire $460,000 available from the Mitchell family gift to build a new pavilion at Murray Park’s ball diamonds, some were incredulous.

   Could it really cost that much for a “simple” pavilion?

   No, it won’t cost $460,000 to build it, members of the Ripon Board of Public Works found out last week Thursday.

   It likely would cost much more as currently designed.

   The board received the bad news after being tasked by the Ripon Common Council with creating plans to construct the pavilion.

   Now, with finances becoming an increasing issue, the board will turn the issue back to the Common Council.
