A design for a pool lobby at Ripon High School narrowly failed approval but could be revisited soon.
A tie vote by the Ripon Area School Board’s facilities committee — a whole board committee — during its meeting Tuesday wasn’t enough to pass the design.
The more than $200,000 project was approved last month at the board’s meeting, but several members questioned the division of funding Tuesday.
Board member Andy Lyke wondered how much of the cost would be for necessary heating and cooling equipment in the space versus the actual layout renovations.
Lyke asked for a breakout of the costs “because $200,000, for what we’re looking at, is a lot of money for [a lobby that we would be] using for nine weeks of the year.”
Nicholas Kent, an architect with Milwaukee firm Plunkett Raysich who spoke over the phone with the committee, said, “It’s pretty significant for a renovation project.”
