Ripon’s state Sen. Luther Olsen has his first challenger in the expected recall election.
State Rep. Fred Clark, D-Baraboo, announced last week Thursday that he plans to challenge the Ripon Republican this summer, assuming the recall moves forward as planned.
The only hurdles remaining for the recall to become reality is for about 17,000 of the 24,000 signatures be certified by the Government Accountability Board and for any legal challenges that follow to be satisfied.
Clark, a state representative for the 42nd Assembly district, made the announcement in his home community of Baraboo at lunchtime.
He has been in the Assembly since 2008. Clark also is a business owner and consultant to the DNR.
