Could Ripon’s young, and young-at-heart, one day “scoop the loop” once again?

Scooping the loop, of course, was a practice of yesteryear enjoyed primarily by teens who would cruise along Watson Street, maybe to excess, along with countless other teens.

It was discontinued in the early 1990s when city leaders determined it had become a nuisance for downtown shop owners and visitors alike.

Though a practice of another era, it’s not been forgotten, especially as nostalgia for it has surfaced on social media in recent years.

The topic came up again during a discussion last week Thursday between the consultant and participants of the streetscaping program, held at Bovay’s Study Bar & Mercantile.
