Riponites waited more than a decade for Riponfest to return after the last festival.

   They won’t need to wait nearly so long for the next one.

   Organizers of what is being referred to as Riponfest 2.0 are happy with how the festival was revived last week Saturday, and are ready to bring it back again next summer.

   “It went amazing,” Riponfest President Jackie Perkins said. “I am 100% heartful, and I don’t think it could have gone any better.”

   Given that the last Riponfest was held in 2008, board members knew that they’d have some hurdles to overcome in recreating the festival, including in drawing back crowds.

   “I was expecting a solid crowd during the day and then a bigger crowd at night for BENT, and that’s exactly what happened,” Perkins said, referring to former Ripon band reuniting just for Riponfest. “I was expecting more people to watch the parade, but I know a lot of people heard about it last minute or they thought it was on Sunday for like the previous Riponfest parade. But the parade [itself] was beyond my expectations.”
