Think the winter’s been rough on you? Try being a road in Ripon.

   Due in large part to extreme temperature fluctuations, heavy snows and even some rain mixed in, potholes have popped up throughout the community in recent weeks.

   East Fond du Lac Street in particular offers drivers a slalom-like experience as they try to preserve their vehicles.

   But, hopefully, it won’t be like that for much longer.

   A plan is in place to start filling those holes in earnest this week.

   “We know about it; we’re working on it,” public works director Mike Ehrenberg said.

   Believe it or not, but as recently as Jan. 24, few potholes existed around Ripon.

   That’s the date on which Ripon’s public works crews filled potholes last.
