Usually, a fire gets trucks flying out of the fire station off Aspen Street.

But once a year, a flames draw vehicles down to the station.

What for? The annual Ripon Area Fire District chicken barbecue, for which more than 2,000 meals are sold.

People filled lines of tables inside the station Sunday, while countless other vehicles lined up all the way around the outside of the building as drivers waited for boxed-up meals.
