Dawn M. Hein, age 66, of Ripon, WI passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Neenah, WI. Dawn was born on August 18, 1952 in Berlin, WI the daughter of Carl and Agnes (Hokamp) Johnson. Dawn graduated from Berlin High School. She was united in marriage to Randall R. Hein on October 25, 1969 in Berlin. Dawn enjoyed following the Del Rays band with her favorite dance partner, Randy.

Dawn was a nurse’s aide and then worked for over a decade at Ripon Foods Cookie Factory. Many of her co-workers would remember the many annual employee parties she helped plan. In 1978, Dawn and her husband established Randy Hein Excavating, Inc.. She was the Office Manager and wore several hats throughout the business over many years. Dawn was a pioneer in recycling and refurbishing, as she was the operator of the Ripon landfill for many years. Dawn enjoyed volunteering her time in several youth church programs, 4-H helper, and more recently, the Ripon Thrift Store. She is a member of the Ripon Community Church.

Dawn is survived by her husband Randall of Ripon; daughter: Shelly (Robert) Schaefer of Brownsville; 3 sons: Shane (special friend, Julie Chier) Hein of Green Lake, Shandy Hein of Ripon, and Shannon (special friend, Samantha Vadnais) Hein of Ripon, 5 grandchildren: Caleb, Steely and Cameron Schaefer, Corbin and Colby Hein and a grandson on the way; sister, Rachel (Joseph J.) Niklasch of Mequon; brother, Mark (Jill) Johnson of Chippewa Falls; mother-in-law, Deloris Hein of Ripon; 3 sisters-in-law: Dee Johnson of Townsend, Ronda (John) Lewis of Princeton, Rogene Schmidt of Green Lake and Robin (Robert) Parafiniuk of Princeton; special cousins Eddie (Elaine and Travis) Schmudlach and many nieces and nephews including her goddaughter Kelle (Alan) Wacholtz: many great nieces and great nephews, and so many dear friends including her caregiver Felicia Larsen, who was like a mother to Dawn. Dawn is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roger Johnson; 2 nephews: Keith Reinert and Justin Lewis, father-in-law, Russell Hein and brother-in-law, Ken Schmidt.
The family would like to thank the medical team and staff of Theda Care Regional Medical Center and Gran Care Nursing Home for their care, efforts and compassion; as well as to everyone who continued to pray for Dawn to bring her back to us over the past months.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00AM to 12:00PM on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Divine Passage Funeral Home, 175 N Douglas Street, in Ripon. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.

Funeral services for Dawn will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Divine Passage Funeral Home with Pastor Arica Leonard officiating. Burial will be held at the Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. Divine Passage Funeral Home in Ripon is proudly serving the Hein family during this difficult time.
