On behalf of our mom we’d like to share this obituary that she prepared for her family and friends prior to her death which occurred on September 27, 2018.

Doris Emond Malkowski was born on February 12, 1926 in Two Rivers, WI., the daughter of Victor and Sophia Kulbacki Emond. She attended St. Luke Catholic School and graduated from Washington High School Class of 1944.

On June 29th, 1944 she was united in marriage to Chester “Chet” Malkowski at the Army Air Base in Ardmore, OK. She worked for Western Union as a clerk / typist. They were blessed with six children: Mark, Kathy, Susan, Paul, John and Jane.

Doris and Chet lived in Ardmore, OK for a couple of years until WWII ended and Chet was discharged from the service. They returned to Two Rivers, WI temporarily until Chet enrolled at the University of WI in Madison. At that time, they moved to Badger Village near Baraboo until Chet graduated with a degree in Pharmacy. They then moved to Wisconsin Dells for a couple of years and then to Ripon, WI where Chet established his business.

During the 46 years she and her husband resided in Ripon, Doris was a faithful and active member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. She also was a member of Ripon Woman’s Club, League of Women Voters, Ripon Hospital Auxiliary, and a group of sewing club friends. She enjoyed sewing and especially liked to cross stitch, knit and read.

After the children were grown, Doris worked part time at Ripon College for about two years.

She and her husband also enjoyed many fun times as members of a supper club with very special friends.

Doris left Ripon in 1998 after the passing of her husband in 1997 and moved to Oshkosh where she lived a very good life. All but one of her children lived in the area and she was close enough to Ripon to continue enjoying her friends there.

She became a member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church where she met many wonderful people who led her along the many paths she was to take such as volunteering at; Franciscan Courts, Salvatorian Mission Warehouse in New Holstein, and many activities at St Raphael’s. Her friends also led her to participate in several groups; Spirituality, RENEW, a widow’s group, Stepping Stones, and a Prayer Shawl group. Her time was her own and she made good use of it.

Doris is survived by her six children; Mark (Kathy) Malkowski of Ripon, Kathy (Tom) Yapp, Sue Malkowski, Paul Malkowski and Jane (Reid) Meisner all of Oshkosh, Jon Emond (f.k.a. Malkowski) of Los Angeles, CA, her sister; Joan (Frank) Yench, Geneva, IL, her brother; Don (Phyllis) Emond, Chicago, IL, sisters-in-law; Sandy Emond, Fountain Hills, AZ, Jean Emond, Livermore, CO, and brother-in-law; Paul Virnoche, Two Rivers, along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Doris is also survived by her grandchildren; Matt (Jennifer) Malkowski of Ripon; Andy Malkowski (Rich Marshall), Oshkosh, Peter (Dianna) Malkowski, Neenah, Benjamin (Heidi) Yapp, Portsmouth, NH, Madeline Meisner (Davis Yach), Denver, CO, Molly Meisner (Gabe Noyce), Madison, and her great-grandchildren; Brett Malkowski of Ripon, and Eleanor, Catherine and Violet Malkowski, of Neenah.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband; Chester, her parents; Victor and Sophia Emond, a sister; Nancy Virnoche, a sister and brother in-law; Donna (Don) Thiede, two brothers; Glenn Emond and Mark Emond, as well as many other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Mass for Doris will be held on Thursday October 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Drive in Oshkosh with Rev. Michael Warden officiating. Visitation with the children will be held prior to Mass starting at 9:30 a.m. in the church gathering space. A luncheon will follow Mass. Interment will be at St Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Ripon, alongside her husband.
