Dr. Peggy Ann (Leonard) Schuber, 60, of Las Vegas, NV, died Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. Peggy was born to Charles and Melva (Bean) Leonard on June 14, 1956 in Viroqua, WI, attended Ripon and DeForest WI High Schools and graduated with a degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1980. She continued her studies at the University of Texas while working at the M D Anderson Cancer Center and was awarded a doctorate in Nursing in 2003.
Peggy taught nursing at a number of institutions including the University of Nevada Las Vegas and Hunter College in New York and loved collaborating with colleagues and writing grant applications for new research in cancer awareness and community health. Her love of caring for people extended beyond her work as she was always ready to help people in need and ensure that everyone was treated with kindness and respect. Her plants, cats and the UW Badgers also had a special place in her heart.
Peggy married Charles Schuber, and had a son, Michael. Peggy is survived by Michael (Courtney) of Philadelphia, her stepmother Mary of DeForest, WI, her brothers, Thomas (Catherine) of Winchester, MA and Steven (Kimberly) of Greenland, NH and stepsisters Pamela Sidwell (Tom) of DeForest, WI and Janelle Kascht (Jake) of Kenosha, WI, A memorial service is currently being planned for next summer in Wisconsin with at Walnut Mound Cemetery, Retreat, WI.
