Bovay’s Study Bar and Mercantile took its first steps toward opening last week.

The building, envisioned by Ripon College administrators as a multi-use space for events and community-college engagement that will incorporate aspects of a bookstore, coffee bar and study area, will not open formally until sometime in February.

But students at Ripon College got their first crack at the new college property starting with spring classes.

Classes began being held in the rear portion of the building last week Wednesday.

Ripon College merchandise and apparel also will be available for purchase later this spring.

A small, fold-out stage for visiting acts also will be available so that musicians, comedians, poets and others may perform.
