Financial services firms try to offer peace of mind to their clientele.

   But Thrivent, and in particular financial consultants David Shattuck and Cathy Hargrave, believe their mission goes further.

   Through their office in Berlin — and now their new office at 209 Watson St. in Ripon — Hargrave and Shattuck also aim to educate clients, give them a chance to live their Christianity and provide “generosities” to the community as well.

   “Our goal is to truly help people with their journey and also to make an impact in their lives,” Hargrave said. “However they choose to do that is up to them.”

   On the surface, Thrivent Financial is a financial-services firm.

   “We can provide pretty much anything you need on the product side,” Shattuck said ...

   But, he explained, his office can do far more for a customer than a traditional financial-services firm through education as well as financial support of nonprofit organizations.
