   Singer-songwriter Jim Messina visited Thrasher Opera House last year, and fans rejoiced.

   But leading up to the performance, the situation was a bit more tense behind the scenes.

   “They didn’t even want to accept the control board we had,” said Roby Irvin, program director of Thrasher.

   The equipment was nearly 20 years old, and while adequate once upon a time, Irvin and others at Thrasher knew the control board, monitors and more had lived out their useful life.

   “We needed to update the system,” Irvin said.

   Mission accomplished.

   After years of discussion, a year of research, and a lot of money spent, Thrasher Opera House now has a modern sound system that the venue’s administrators hope will delight both audience and acts alike.
