On the occasion of Main Street Wisconsin’s 30th anniversary this year, the Wisconsin Main Street Awards visited possibly the most apropos location possible: Ripon.

With the longest tenured Main Street manager and receiving possibly the most awards in the state, Ripon may have been the ideal location for the event last week Friday.

While guests enjoyed a meal at Ripon College’s Great Hall, 22 awards were presented, while volunteers and long-tenured executives also were recognized.

Earning an honorable mention for the “Best Facade Rehabilitation — over $10,000” was Rogers & Rogers LLC for its work at 231-233 Watson St.

Mark Hogan, secretary and CEO of Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. (WEDC), described it as “a rather unconventional winner, in that it recognizes a rear or alley-side facade.”

Hogan praised the decision to dress up more than just the street-facing facade of the building.
