Last week Friday, Ripon Middle School hosted the in-school Courage Retreat for its eighth-graders. It was led by retreat facilitators from the Minnesota-based organization Youth Frontiers.

The retreat is geared to help empower students with courage to stand up for what’s right, and help identify any fears or peer pressures that may prevent them from making courageous decisions.

Retreat facilitators Anna Ganter and Tony Lehr taught students through anecdotes, fun dance activities and competitions to embrace who they are instead of following the crowd.

Some of the retreat activities included dancing the Boogaloo, displaying unique talents and answering questions about themselves within their small groups.
