Honoring current and new members, Ripon High School’s National Honor Society (NHS) members gathered in the school auditorium last week Wednesday night to induct new members.

The NHS is a 98-year-old group formed to recognize high school students who are outstanding in their schools and communities.

At the ceremony, Ripon’s NHS officers lit candles representing the organization’s four areas of excellence: scholarship, service, leadership and character.

Current members then received gold cords and pins from the new members, while new members signed in to the decades-old Ripon High School NHS membership book.

During the ceremony, siblings welcomed each other to the group with hugs.
