Exclamations of surprise, joy and excitement rang through several Barlow Park Elementary School classrooms as students received valentines from each other. Some were small bags of goodies, others came with an animal mask, a tiny container of putty, a yo-yo or stickers.

After opening up the Valentine’s Day cards and reading them, the students would go to the one who had given the card and say “Thank you.”

Classrooms also offered Valentine’s Day-themed activities such as counting heart candies, painting hearts to reveal hidden words written in wax crayon, making Valentine’s Day cards to give to relatives and eating treats, such as cupcakes and cookies made with love.
