Despite enough student interest to retain Lumen Charter School for an additional year, the school will close next month.

   However, it does not signify the end of Lumen.

   The school’s governance board hopes to run Lumen Charter School as a program next year within Ripon High School.

   This decision is pending approval of the Ripon Area School Board.

   Lumen Charter School and Ripon High School Principal Randy Hatlen approached the Lumen governance board Tuesday night, requesting it to consider operating Lumen as a program for the 2019-2020 school year.

   He explained the school researched what it would look like to run Lumen Charter School another year after receiving enough interest from sophomores and juniors who wanted to continue their Lumen education before the contract ended.
