Sometimes history needs a bit updating.
Ripon schools will get a brand new set of historic plates courtesy of CG Schmidt, the construction company responsible for Ripon’s renovated high school and middle school.
Project manager Ryan Schmidt presented the donation of five plates — to go along with two commemorating the renovations — to the Ripon Area School District during the School Board meeting March 20.
“For anyone that in the past walked in the old middle school ... they were greeted on either side, above the beautiful art deco radiator covers, by plates that represented the original construction,” Superintendent Mary Whitrock told the board.
The plates included a list of board members and administrators who presided over the construction, as well as the name of the president of the United States during that period. The new plates also will contain that information for each school.
“We’re very pleased that CG Schmidt was willing to bring the rest of our buildings up to speed and then commemorate the renovations that occurred here in the high school,” Whitrock said.
“I just want to thank the district for giving us the opportunity to build this project,” Schmidt said. “It’s a big feather in our caps, so thank you.”
