A Ripon student was expelled by the School Board during a special meeting Monday evening.
The district confirmed the expulsion in an email Tuesday. According to Superintendent Mary Whitrock, the student had drug paraphernalia at school, which the board determined endangered other students’ health and safety.
“[Expulsions] are intended to create a balance between protecting others while also assisting the student in learning from the mistakes made,” Whitrock said.
Expelled students sometimes can gain reinstatement by meeting certain conditions; however, Whitrock added that the board would not allow the student to be readmitted.
