Six high school seniors — three from Ripon — received STRIVE scholarships recently from Ripon Rotary Club members.

   The students are:

  • Ripon High School — Mason Ostrander and Jaime Moran
  • Crossroads — Jaydon Woloszyn
  • Markesan High School — Bailey Sanders, Sam Roundy and Dakota Madel

Students earned the scholarship money, to be used for post-high school endeavors, after attending STRIVE sessions throughout the school year.

STRIVE is a 12-year-old, Rotary-sponsored program that helps juniors and seniors prepare for life after graduation.

Rotarian and STRIVE coordinator Kyle Grahn thanked volunteers for assisting with the program, which had students learn teamwork at the Ripon Area Fire District, interviewing and resume-writing skills, budgeting, goal setting, legal issues and networking.

Students also toured local companies such as A.F. Gelhar Co. and Ripon Printers, as well as Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton.

Rotarians serving on the STRIVE committee, besides Grahn, are Bob Amsden, Cathylee Arbaugh, Hank Grams, Liz Nevitt, Dean Rogers, Pat Schaub and Peter Sensenbrenner.
