The morning may have been cold as the wind nipped at exposed skin, but Ripon residents persevered in the cold as they got their blood pumping with a 5k walk/run.

Hillside Assembly Church hosted the Ripon Family 5K last week Saturday to raise funds to revamp the teachers’ lounge at Barlow Park Elementary/Journey Charter School.

More than 35 attendees, ranging from young kids to adults, participated in the event.

Some tried to stay warm by bundling up in blankets while others weren’t afraid to wear shorts.
