Ripping, blending, sponging and decorating.

It’s a multi-step process, but groups and individuals from the Ripon area had fun making their own handmade paper at Ripon Public Library’s Papermaking workshop last week Thursday.

The sessions were lead by local artist Tanya Schwartz-Roeper, who, with help from assistants, directed individuals through the numerous steps of making paper.

Participants had to choose the color of paper, rip it to pieces and then blend it with water. The mixture then is poured into a wooden frame. The paper pulp is sponged and decorated however one desires.
