For the first time this season, the Ripon High School golf team fielded a full squad Tuesday.
It discovered the team still has plenty of work to do.
The Tigers, who had just one golfer last week, finished last out of eight teams in both of their East Central Conference Mini-Tour matches, which took place at Green Lake’s Golf Courses of Lawsonia and Berlin’s Mascoutin Golf Club.
They shot a 231 at Lawsonia and a 230 at Mascoutin — both of which were well off the pace.
Waupun and Plymouth tied for first place at the Lawsonia match with a 167, while Waupun won the Mascoutin competition with a 157.
“I think the big thing right now is that we’re getting experience,” Ripon head coach Rick Kelm said of the two mini-tour stops. “Some of our golfers with less practice in the past have been learning some other parts of the game. [They are] finding some areas that they’re both getting better at and also finding areas that still need some more work."
