   The Ripon High School cross country teams knew the Muskego Invitational wouldn’t be easy.

   It didn’t disappoint.

   The boys finished in 12th place out of 17 teams, and the girls came in 13th out of 14 teams last week Saturday at Lake Denoon Middle School in Muskego, Wis.

   The low team placings weren’t unexpected.

   “We’re one of three Division II schools that go to the meet,” Ripon High School head coach Chris Gatzke said. “I think there was actually one private school that might have even been from out of state. The competition there was very good.”

   Add into the mix the fact that it was homecoming, with all its distractions, and Gatzke knew the meet would present challenges.

   Even so, he was pleased with how many runners competed.
