The Ripon High School Cheer & Stunt team competed at the Wisconsin Association of Cheer/Pom Coaches (WACPC) High School Cheer Championship at the La Crosse Civic Center last week Friday and Saturday.

All teams must first qualify during a preliminary round in order to compete at the WACPC State Championships’ final round.

Ripon went against 17 other teams in the state and placed seventh out of the 18 teams during the preliminary round, allowing them to advance to the state round, where the team earned a sixth-place finish in the Non-Tumbling Division out of nine teams.

“This season, we had somewhat of a young and new team,” Ripon head coach Tami Conlon said. “Eight of the 13 members are returners; two of them were seniors. We were also extremely happy to do a co-op with the Green Lake School District and actually have a student from their district. The entire team rallied together this past weekend and did an amazing job. We couldn’t be happier as coaches. Every member has made us extremely proud. Their dedication and hard work was evident during this event and it was a long but fun two days full of excitement."
