Some of the Ripon College women’s basketball team’s best shooting performances in recent years have come at Illinois College.

Last week Saturday was no different.

The Red Hawks shot 44% (27 of 61) from the field, which included a season-best 61% (11 of 18) behind the 3-point line, in an 82-72 road victory over the Lady Blues.

The win gives Ripon (4-0 conference, 8-3 overall) sole possession of first place in the Midwest Conference as the two teams entered as the only undefeated teams.

“Illinois College is a great gym to shoot in,” Ripon head coach Lauren Busalacchi said. “The background in it is similar to our home floor so our team is comfortable there. Historically, we’ve shot well in that gym so we were happy to see that continue.”

One player who shot particularly well for Ripon was Alison Leslie.

The freshman made a program-record nine 3-pointers and finished with 33 points, which is tied for fourth-most in school history.
