After suffering just its second Midwest Conference loss of the season a day earlier, the Ripon College women’s basketball team bounced back last week Saturday.

It led Grinnell from start to finish en route to a 70-47 road win.

With the victory, the Red Hawks remain tied for first place in the Midwest Conference with Monmouth. They also move two games ahead of Knox and Lake Forest, who are tied for third place.

“We were pleased that our team came out more aggressive on both ends of the floor than the previous night,” Ripon head coach Lauren Busalacchi said of the bounceback.

While the Red Hawks (10-2 conference, 11-8 overall) never trailed in the game, it took them a little bit of time to assert control.

They led the Pioneers (4-9 conference, 6-13 overall) just 21-18 with around seven minutes remaining in the second quarter, before finishing the half on a 17-7 run.

Ripon then broke the contest open in the third quarter as it doubled up Grinnell 22-11 to take a 60-36 advantage into the fourth.
