The Ripon High School softball team was no match for Kettle Moraine Lutheran (KML) Tuesday, falling 21-0 in five innings.
It fell behind the host Chargers 6-0 after the first inning and allowed three more runs in the second, four in the third and eight in the fourth to be run-ruled.
“They jumped on our pitches immediately and we just couldn’t find the ball with our bat,” Ripon head coach Rachel Minch said about the loss to KML.
While the Tigers struggled offensively for most of the game, they did threaten to score in the second inning.
Emma Kautzer singled in the frame and Kendra Oskola beat out a throw on a bunt attempt to put runners at first and second base, but Ripon couldn’t bring them in.
They were the only two hits in the game for Ripon, compared to 15 for the Chargers. KML also benefitted from four errors en route to the lopsided victory.
