The Ripon Tiger wrestling team gauges its progress on how it does against Chilton at the Laconia Invitational after having faced it to begin the season in Lomira.

While it fell short against Chilton at the Laconia meet last week Saturday, Ripon head coach Lee Cotton was pleased with where it is sitting.

The Tigers dropped their first dual to Chilton 36-30 and fell to Shawano 43-18, before winning their final three to finish 3-2 and in third place out of five schools.

They defeated Tri-County 48-18, Laconia 45-33 and Clintonville 57-12 for its three victories.

Ripon lost to Chilton earlier this season 42-31 in Lomira.

“I think on the day I was fairly happy with the guys’ effort,” Lee Cotton said. “They went out there aggressive, didn’t back down against anybody and competed. I think most of the guys were pretty happy with how they finished up. I know some of the guys had a few disappointing losses, but I think they’ll continue to work hard the rest of the week here to kind of put those matches behind us and make sure that we don’t make some of the same mistakes.”

Ripon was led by Lili Alderson, who went 5-0 in the 106-pound weight class. The senior only had one contested match as her other four victories came on forfeits.
