To say the Ripon High School volleyball team has a good mix of returners and newcomers this season would be an understatement.

The Tigers enter the year with an even split of six players each.

As a result, Ripon head coach Tracy Landerman, who will be entering her 35th season at the helm, wouldn’t be surprised if her team has some growing pains.

“I think because we’re still fairly young, we still have a big learning curve,” Landerman said, noting several of the players returning also are relatively young.

Among the players coming back this year are senior Lilly Cavell, juniors Cassandra Jennings, Lexi Miller, Emma Pinnow, Avery Downs and sophomore Erika Mills.

Newcomers include senior Maddie Greff, junior Evelyn Norton, sophomores Abby Radloff, Celina Lopez, Avary Makarewicz and freshman Sheridan Zimmerman.

While the Tigers might suffer some bumps and bruises along the way as they learn, Landerman has been impressed with the passion and excitement shown by not just the members of the varsity team, but the JV and JV2 teams as well.
