A trip to Nashville was music to the ears for the Ripon College Red Hawk men’s basketball team.

After dropping their previous four games, the Red Hawks got back on the winning track last weekend at the Music City Classic.

They defeated MacMurray College 63-59 last week Saturday and Bridgewater State 79-63 Sunday.

“It was great because it’s always a challenge on these trips to get the guys kind of more or less focused,” Ripon head coach Ryan Kane said about the wins. “There’s travel; there’s the break with finals, where we did practice for over a week and we had one practice before we went down there. So you never know exactly how you’re going to play when you’re going down there and obviously we’re in a bit of a slump going into it.”

He noted the losing streak probably was more a product of the Red Hawks’ schedule than their play as they faced two top-25 ranked teams and St. Norbert on the road.
