Wrestling is just as much about mental toughness as it is physical.

That was on display last week Thursday as Ripon High School was defeated by Berlin 50-15 in a conference road dual.

The Tigers won just two contested matches on the night, with the other coming via forfeit.

“We let our opponents get in our heads before we walked out on the mat,” Ripon head coach Lee Cotton said of the loss. “The guys just didn’t perform up to their potential, which resulted in a loss.”

Winning the contested matches for the Tigers against Berlin were Lili Alderson (106-pound weight class) and Aaron Socha (195).

Alderson’s victory came in the most dominating fashion of the two as she was nearing a tech fall (leading by 15 or more points) before scoring the pin in the second period.
