The Ripon High School girls’ soccer team was evenly matched with Waupun Tuesday on the road.

The only difference, according to head coach Steve Nankervis?

   The Warriors wanted it more.

Ripon dropped the East Central Conference game 1-0, with the lone goal coming in the 65th minute.

“Our girls just fell flat,” Nankervis said of the defeat to Waupun. “[It was] not that their effort wasn’t there, it was just that their ‘want’ was not there. Especially after [Waupun] scored their goal, we kind of definitely hung our heads a little bit.”

The goal could have been prevented, Nankervis noted. The Tigers had a missed clearance that bounced around the middle of the field that was played over the top and their defender was out of position, allowing for an easy score.
