Well, it wasn’t the Tiger volleyball team’s night.

Just one match removed from a contest in which Ripon head coach Tracy Landerman felt her squad had made progress, the Tigers found themselves singing a familiar tune at Laconia Tuesday night.

“They weren’t in sync tonight. They had bits and pieces where they put a string of really good plays together and had more control of what was going on,” Landerman said. “And then all of a sudden, Laconia started picking apart some things and then we were scrambling.”

The result: Laconia easily upended the Tigers 10-25, 18-25, 11-25.

“I knew Laconia had a strong team ... a good solid team. One of the few teams [Laconia] lost to was Winneconne, who in our conference right now is undefeated,” Landerman said.

The Spartans were tough, but Ripon didn’t help its case.

“We started out slow. We got caught off balance. Laconia took advantage of that right away,” Landerman said.
